The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct customer service hearings on October 21-22, 2008, for customers of Tampa Electric Company (TECO). In August, TECO filed a petition with the PSC for approval of a $228.2 million permanent increase to its electric rates. TECO provides electric service to approximately 667,000 customers in Hillsborough and portions of Polk, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. The utility’s last rate case was in 1992.
The hearings allow customers to comment on the proposed rates and any quality-of-service issues relevant to the utility. Customers are invited to attend the hearings at the following dates, times, and locations:
Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Blaise F. Alfano Conference and Banquet Center
11606 North McKinley Drive
Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Chain of Lakes Complex
210 Cypress Garden Boulevard
Winter Haven, Florida
The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
