The following items are among those scheduled for consideration by the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) at the Tuesday, February 10, 2009 Agenda Conference.
At the start of the Agenda Conference, PSC Chairman Matthew M. Carter II will honor community “Lifeline Leaders” in recognition of Black History Month. The month recognizes those African-American leaders, past and present, who have made contributions toward the betterment of their communities. The leaders being recognized have shared a desire to make life better, to do more for their community, and to make sure the less fortunate are cared for. These leaders have been instrumental in helping low-income Floridians receive and keep basic telephone service, which is critical to everyday living.
ITEM 6: Docket No. 080692-TP – Joint application for approval of indirect transfer of control of telecommunications facilities by Embarq Corporation, CenturyTel, Inc., Embarq Florida, Inc., and Embarq Payphone Services, Inc. The Commission will consider a staff recommendation addressing CenturyTel’s acquisition of Embarq.
ITEM 7: Docket No. 080533-EQ – Petition for approval of negotiated power purchase contract for purchase of firm capacity and energy with Horizon Energy Group, LLC, by Progress Energy Florida, Inc. The Commission will consider a staff recommendation for Progress Energy’s purchase of electricity from a planned municipal solid waste facility.
ITEM 9: Docket No. 080665-EI – Petition of Florida Power & Light Company for approval of long-term agreement for full requirements electric service with Lee County Electric Cooperative. The Commission will consider a staff recommendation on a large, long-term wholesale sales agreement.
ITEM 11: Docket No. 080366-GU – Petition for rate increase by Florida Public Utilities Company (FPUC). The Commission will consider a staff recommendation on an interim rate increase for FPUC pending a final decision on a permanent rate request.
