Lifeline Awareness Week To Kick Off in Tallahassee


TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will kick off the first National Lifeline Awareness Week at 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2009 at Tallahassee’s Capital Area Community Action Agency, Inc. (CACAA).

National Lifeline Awareness Week, September 14 – 20, is designed to raise awareness and increase participation in the discounted telephone program.  The keynote speaker is PSC Chairman Matthew M. Carter II.  He will be joined by Dorothy Inman-Johnson, Executive Director, CACAA; Wilma McKay, Executive Director, Florida Association for Community Action, Inc.; Representative Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda; Representative Alan B. Williams; John Marks, Mayor of Tallahassee; Bob Rackleff, Leon County Commission Vice-Chairman; J.R. Kelly, Public Counsel; and George Sheldon, Secretary of the Department of Children and Families.
