Customers of Aloha Utilities, Inc. will have an opportunity to comment on
a settlement offer proposed by the company to resolve service quality issues.
The company proposed a settlement July 21, 2005,
to resolve all outstanding matters between Aloha and the Commission.
The customer meeting will begin at noon August 15,
2005, at the West Pasco Government Center. The
Commission will defer a vote on the proposed settlement offer, currently
scheduled for the August 2, 2005, Agenda Conference, until August 17 in order to
accommodate customer comment on the settlement proposal.
“By holding a public meeting in Aloha’s territory, the Commission will
be able to make a fully informed decision on the merits of accepting or
rejecting the offer of settlement,” Commission Chairman Braulio Baez said.
“The settlement has the potential to direct the parties’ resources away from
litigation and to focus on finding a cost-effective, scientific and technical
solution to Aloha’s water quality problems.”
