PSC to Help Unemployed "Get Connected and Get a Job" at Lifeline Awareness Week Event in Ft. Myers

TALLAHASSEE — Helping unemployed Floridians “Get Connected and Get a Job,” the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is partnering with Southwest Florida Works for this year’s National Lifeline Awareness Week on Wednesday, September 14, in Ft. Myers.

PSC staff will offer information about the Link-Up Florida and Lifeline Assistance telephone discount programs to help Florida’s unemployed get a phone and connect with job opportunities, as well as businesses and community services.  Telephone company representatives will be available to sign up eligible residents.

Joining public utility commissions across the nation, the Florida PSC continues to spread the word and increase participation in the discount programs making telephone service affordable for the state’s low-income consumers.

The event will be held at the following time and location:

Wednesday, September 14, 2011
8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Southwest Florida Works
4150 Ford Street Extension
Ft. Myers, Florida
