Customer Meeting Scheduled To Discuss Application For Rate Increase In Bay County By Bayside Utility Services, Inc.

TALLAHASSEE — The staff of the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a customer meeting on Thursday, April 15, 2004 to accept comments from consumers and other interested parties about a proposed rate increase submitted by Bayside Utility Services, Inc. (Bayside or utility).  In addition, this meeting will provide the utility’s customers with an opportunity to comment about service quality issues or other matters relevant to Bayside.

Bayside provides water and wastewater service to approximately 287 customers in Bay County.

Assuming an average monthly consumption of 4,000 gallons, the utility has asked to increase its rates for residential customers from $21.69 to $35.89 for water, and from $33.63 to $63.64 for wastewater.  The utility’s requested rates are only being included for discussion purposes.  Ultimately, the Commission-approved rates will be based on staff’s investigation and information obtained during the customer meeting.

All customers of Bayside are invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at the following time and location:

Thursday, April 15, 2004

6:00 p.m. CDT

Panama City Beach Senior Center

423 Lyndell Lane

PSC staff is currently scheduled to file its recommendation for permanent rates on June 24, 2004, and the Commission's consideration and vote on this matter is currently scheduled for July 6, 2004.
