Jimmy Patronis Leaves PSC, Appointed Florida’s Chief Financial Officer

TALLAHASSEE — Governor Rick Scott has announced Jimmy Patronis as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer; he will be sworn into his new position on Friday, June 30.  Former Commissioner Patronis resigned from the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) on Sunday, June 25 to accept the position.

“It is with mixed emotions--tremendous happiness for him and our great state, but sadness for us--that I announce Commissioner Jimmy Patronis’ departure and resignation from the PSC,” Chairman Julie Brown said in a statement to PSC employees. “As CFO, he will oversee the Department of Financial Services, serve as State Fire Marshal, and sit as a member of the Florida Cabinet.

“Commissioner Patronis has been an invaluable colleague at the PSC, and I believe his impeccable ethics, his integrity, and his tenacity to serve the public interest are the very reasons why the Governor chose him to be the CFO,” Chairman Brown continued.

“We will all miss Commissioner Patronis' outgoing and welcoming personality, his endearing smile, his humbleness, and his strong work ethic and professionalism.” Chairman Brown concluded, “Please join me in congratulating Commissioner Patronis and wishing him all the best as he continues to serve the state of Florida in his new role as CFO!”

Former Commissioner Patronis was appointed to the PSC by Governor Scott for a four-year term beginning January 2015.
