TALLAHASSEE —
With all hearing issues stipulated, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) need for its proposed Duval-Raven 230 kV transmission line.
The transmission line will extend from FPL’s existing Duval Substation in Duval County to FPL’s planned Raven Substation in Columbia County, running through Baker, Columbia, Duval, and Nassau counties. “The PSC determined that this project will enhance electric system reliability and integrity for FPL customers in the project’s service area,” said PSC Chairman Julie Brown. “It is also the most cost effective and efficient way to increase capacity in a reliable manner consistent with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s reliability standards and criteria.” With today’s decision, the hearing--no longer necessary--was canceled.
