PSC’s Triple E Award Presented to Haynes Corporation

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) this month is awarding its Triple E Award--for Energy Efficiency Effort--to Haynes Corporation for demonstrating “E” for effort in using cost-effective energy efficiency.  The Naples-based company represents what a business can do by working with its utility to implement PSC-approved, cost-effective conservation programs.

“The PSC is pleased to recognize Haynes Corporation for its innovative solutions to help meet and exceed EPA expectations for Emissions and Fuel Saving Standards,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “We also applaud their outstanding manufacturing work and energy efficiency accomplishments and hope other small businesses will follow suit, working with their local utility to help reduce their energy footprint.”

R. Scott Dixon, Haynes Purchasing Manager, said, “We’re very proud of our LEED-certified facility, and Florida Power & Light Company was instrumental in helping us further increase our energy efficiency measures.  We’re proud to accept this award and look forward to sharing our experiences with other firms wanting to explore ways to lower their energy costs.”

“FPL partners with its small business customers to identify ways to reduce their energy consumption and lower their expenses,” said Eric Silagy, President, FPL. “Lower expenses provide companies the opportunity to offer lower pricing, which, in today’s competitive market, gives them an edge. When Florida’s small businesses thrive, the state is better positioned to grow and compete on the world economic stage, which ultimately benefits us all.”

The PSC encourages cost-effective conservation and renewable energy to reduce the use of fossil fuels and defer the need for new generating capacity. Through the Florida Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, the PSC approves conservation programs for the state’s five investor-owned utilities, JEA, and the Orlando Utilities Commission.

Covering the state’s five major geographic areas, each month the PSC will give its Triple E Award to a local business that has accomplished superior energy efficiency.  Look for PSC Triple E Award recipients throughout 2014 under Hot Topics on the PSC’s homepage,
