Jackson County’s Senior Center Named PSC Helping Hand

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is recognizing Jackson County’s Senior Center as September’s PSC Helping Hand for helping raise public awareness about the Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program, energy and water conservation, and utility-related scams.

“Through an ongoing partnership with the Center, the PSC is able to distribute our Lifeline, scam protection, and conservation materials to seniors, who can most benefit from the information,” said PSC Chairman Julie Brown.

Each month, the PSC highlights a partner agency or organization whose clients can benefit from learning how to reduce energy and water bills, how to protect themselves against utility-related scams, and how to apply for the federal Lifeline program, if they’re eligible.  Through these PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission shares vital information to help consumers manage their resources to meet their monthly bills.

"We are pleased to be named a PSC Helping Hand partner,” said Deborah Kuettel, Center Director.  “We appreciated the PSC presenting ways to save money, scam alerts, and where seniors can find help in Florida and look forward to continuing our partnership, especially since our Center’s mission is to provide the most up-to-date information to our clients.”
