Brandon’s Golden City Gymnastics Recognized with PSC’s Triple E Award

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) this month is awarding its Triple E Award—for Energy Efficiency Effort—to Golden City Gymnastics, a gymnastics training facility in Brandon, specifically for ages 18-months to 18-years old. Recently, the training facility topped its energy efficiency upgrades, demonstrating “E” for effort in using cost-effective energy efficiency that render energy and cost savings.

“The PSC is pleased to recognize Golden City Gymnastics for its implementation of PSC-approved, cost-effective conservation programs,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “We congratulate the leadership of Sean and Tonie Campbell, owners, who fulfilled their personal business-ownership goal and are also achieving their company’s energy-efficiency goal.  We hope other small businesses will follow suit, working with their local utility to help reduce their energy footprint.”

“We’re very proud of our commitment to positively impact children’s lives in the gym and by saving energy to protect their future,” Campbell said. “We worked closely with Tampa Electric Company to reduce energy by replacing lights and adding occupancy sensors throughout the facility. I’m honored to accept this award and appreciate Tampa Electric’s commitment to its commercial efficiency programs that have decreased our energy costs.”

“We are so pleased that customers are making saving energy part of their business plan for success,” said Gordon Gillette, president of Tampa Electric. “Through smart energy use and taking advantage of our energy-efficiency programs and rebates, our customers are seeing real results.”

The PSC encourages cost-effective conservation and renewable energy to reduce the use of fossil fuels and defer the need for new generating capacity. Through the Florida Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, the PSC approves conservation programs for the state’s five investor-owned utilities, JEA, and the Orlando Utilities Commission.

Covering the state’s five major geographic areas, each month the PSC gives its Triple E Award to a local business that has accomplished superior energy efficiency. Look for PSC Triple E Award recipients throughout 2014 under Hot Topics on the PSC’s homepage,
