TALLAHASSEE —
To help Duke Energy Florida, LLC (DEF) better serve its customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved the utility’s emergency petition for tariff modifications to waive customer late payment and returned check charges.
“We applaud Duke for its actions to help customers facing financial hardships during this public health emergency.” said PSC Chairman Gary Clark. “Today, with these modifications, we provided the company with additional flexibility to mitigate customer impact.” DEF has already temporarily suspended disconnecting customers for non-payment and will offer robust payment arrangements for customers in need. The modifications also expand the tariff language to apply to any emergency declaration by an authorized governmental body. DEF serves approximately 1.8 million customers in Florida.
