TALLAHASSEE —
The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved Sebring Gas System, Inc.’s (Sebring) emergency petition to waive customer late payment charges. Sebring has already announced that it will not disconnect service during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the new Commission-approved tariff modifications furthers customer protections.
“We continue to help companies assist their customers facing financial hardships during this pandemic, as well as during possible future emergencies,” said PSC Chairman Gary Clark. “I’m pleased that Florida’s utilities are thinking beyond the current public health crisis, to ensure they have the additional flexibility to mitigate customer impact during other emergency situations.” Sebring’s current tariff does not allow the utility to waive late payment charges for any reason. With today’s Commission approval, Sebring can now relieve its customers from worrying about additional bill charges during government-authorized emergencies. Sebring serves approximately 662 residential customers in Florida. For additional information, visit www.floridapsc.com. Follow the PSC on Twitter, @floridapsc. |
