Senior Friendship Center in Venice Named PSC Helping Hand

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is recognizing the Senior Friendship Center in Venice as a PSC Helping Hand for helping raise public awareness about the Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program and energy and water conservation.

“For senior residents in need, the Friendship Center, like its name suggests, is a vital resource center, and we are pleased that the agency uses PSC materials to help its clientele,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “I also want to commend Tom Harlow, the Friendship Center Manager, for assisting our outreach efforts by reaching those who can most benefit from the information.”

Begun last year, each month the PSC highlights a partner agency or organization whose clients are eligible for the federal Lifeline program and/or need help reducing energy and water bills. Through these PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission shares vital information to help consumers stretch their resources to meet their monthly bills.

“We are honored to be named a PSC Helping Hand,” said Harlow. “The Friendship Centers promotes health, dignity, and quality of life throughout the journey of aging. The PSC’s materials are critical to our clients in their everyday lives.”
