South East American Indian Council Named PSC Helping Hand

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is recognizing the South East American Indian Council (SEAIC) as a PSC Helping Hand for helping raise public awareness about the Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program and energy and water conservation.

“We appreciate SEAIC’s distribution of our Lifeline and LinkUp materials, since telephone subscribership levels on Tribal lands are among the country’s lowest,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “I also want to commend Dr. Dewey Painter, Sr., Flying Eagle Painter, for helping us reach those who can most benefit from the information.”

Begun last year, each month the PSC highlights a partner agency or organization whose clients are eligible for the federal Lifeline program and/or need help reducing energy and water bills. Through these PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission shares vital information to help consumers stretch their resources to meet their monthly bills.

“We appreciate being named a PSC Helping Hand,” said Dr. Painter. “The SEAIC works towards providing aid, giving a voice, and fostering acceptance of us as the people whom we are. The PSC’s Lifeline, LinkUp, and conservation materials help our people make ends meet to enhance their everyday lives.”
