Jimmy Patronis Sworn in as PSC Commissioner

TALLAHASSEE — Jimmy Patronis was sworn in today as a Commissioner on the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) by Judge Nicholas Russell Thompson of the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in Lee County. Governor Rick Scott appointed Patronis to the PSC in September to serve a four-year term beginning in January 2015.

“I look forward to the wonderful opportunity and great responsibility of serving all Florida consumers as a Public Service Commissioner,” said Commissioner Patronis, who recently represented District 6 (Bay County) in the Florida House of Representatives. “Through the years, I’ve gained some valuable utility experience, and I know this will serve me well as I delve into the interesting issues ahead.”

During his eight years in the Legislature, Commissioner Patronis served as the Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee. He also has served on the Florida Elections Commission, another quasijudicial board. A lifelong resident of Bay County, Commissioner Patronis is a partner in Captain Anderson’s Restaurant and Market, where he works with his father, uncle, and brothers in the well-known family business.

Commissioner Patronis received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Florida State University. He is a member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Bay County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Programs and has been involved in many other state and community organizations.

Commissioner Patronis joins Chairman Art Graham and Commissioners Lisa Edgar, Ronald Brisé, and Julie Brown, who today was sworn in for her second term on the five-member panel.
