Power of Faith Ministries Named PSC’s Triple E Winner

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is presenting its March Triple E Award—for Energy Efficiency Effort—to The Power of Faith Ministries (PFM) in Miramar. PFM leaders have demonstrated “E” for effort by implementing energy efficient measures in their facilities to save energy and reduce costs.

“We are pleased to recognize Pastor Michael Hutchinson and PFM for implementing PSC-approved, cost-effective conservation programs,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “The church’s new ceiling insulation made an immediate financial impact and improved the church’s cooling system, keeping parishioners more comfortable throughout the year. Even minor energy efficiency improvements can make a big difference to a small organization’s bottom line.”

“The savings from our energy efficiency upgrades allowed us to add additional services for our members with no increased energy costs. This helps us spread our important ministry message and also practice good stewardship and help preserve resources,” said Pastor Hutchinson. “We appreciate Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) assistance, and we’re pleased to receive this award.”

“PFM participated in FPL’s comprehensive Business Energy Evaluations (BEE) program. We found their building’s ceiling insulation either missing or in need of replacement, so installing new insulation was our first recommendation to reduce PFM’s energy footprint,” said Brad Gunter, FPL Manager of Energy Efficiency. “”We encourage all small businesses, churches, or associations trying to watch their budgets to see how FPL’s BEE program can help reduce their energy costs with energy efficiency improvements.”

The PSC encourages cost-effective conservation and renewable energy to reduce the use of fossil fuels and defer the need for new generating capacity. Through the Florida Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, the PSC approves conservation programs for the state’s five investor-owned utilities, JEA, and the Orlando Utilities Commission.

Covering the state’s five major geographic areas, each month the PSC gives its Triple E Award to a local business that has accomplished superior energy efficiency. Look for PSC Triple E Award recipients throughout 2015 under Hot Topics on the PSC’s homepage,
