TALLAHASSEE —
Hurricane preparedness plans for the 2006 hurricane season for Florida’s
electric utilities will be presented to the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC)
at its Internal Affairs meeting on Monday, June 5.
Each presentation will include information on what the utility is doing
regarding inspection of transmission lines, poles, and towers for structural
integrity, action the utility has taken to clear vegetation away from critical
lines and structures and progress the utility has made on repairs to
transmission and distribution facilities and poles from previous storms.
In addition to addressing the current season’s efforts, the Commission
has required investor-owned utilities to file long-term plans on hurricane
preparedness efforts.
Representatives from eleven utilities are scheduled to make
presentations. A copy of the Internal Affairs agenda is available on the
Commission’s website at: http://www.psc.state.fl.us/internal/toc.cfm.
