PSC’s Triple E Award Presented to Roche Surety Casualty Company, Inc.

TALLAHASSEE — In keeping with the spirit of holiday giving, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is presenting its final 2015 Triple E Award—for Energy Efficiency Effort—to Tampa’s Roche Surety. The company recently participated in Tampa Electric Company’s Commercial Cool Roof Rebate program and replaced inefficient air conditioning units.

“Energy smart Roche Surety representatives initiated an energy audit and, more importantly, then followed through and implemented Tampa Electric’s recommendations. As a result, the company’s projected annual electric savings top $3,200,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “Businesses struggling with high power and gas bills can give themselves a present by contacting their utility for advice and expertise in reducing those costs.”

“Roche Surety is pleased to be recognized for implementing several energy efficiency measures, and we also appreciate our lower energy bills!” said Vicki Barrionuevo, Senior Accounting Clerk. “We received a Cool Roof Rebate of $9,240 and expect to save 29,351 kilowatt-hours annually. To further improvements, we adjusted our programmable thermostats and replaced missing ceiling tiles to potentially save an additional $5,560.”

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with our customers, like Roche Surety, to manage energy costs,” said Gordon Gillette, president of Tampa Electric. “Smart energy use often starts with a free audit from one of our certified energy analysts. Our customers are seeing real results through our energy-efficiency programs and rebates.”

The PSC encourages cost-effective conservation and renewable energy to reduce the use of fossil fuels and defer the need for new generating capacity. Through the Florida Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, the PSC approves conservation programs for the state’s five investor-owned utilities, JEA, and the Orlando Utilities Commission.

Covering the state’s five major geographic areas, each month the PSC gives its Triple E Award to a local business that has accomplished superior energy efficiency. Look for this year’s PSC Triple E Award recipients under Hot Topics on the PSC’s homepage,
