TALLAHASSEE —
The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) voted on Tuesday to reduce the
amount of storm costs and expenses that GT Com will be allowed to recover for
damage resulting from Hurricane Dennis in 2005.
GT Com requested recovery of storm costs of $281,166, or fifty cents per
access line per month for one year, the maximum recovery allowed GT Com under Florida law.
Commissioners reduced that amount to $4,950, after identifying several
cost categories requiring adjustments. The Commission-approved recovery amount
may be assessed as a one-time surcharge of $0.11 per access line.
GT Com serves approximately 46,861 lines in 17 exchanges throughout the
Florida Panhandle/Big Bend region. These exchanges include Alligator Point,
Altha, Apalachicola, Blountstown, Bristol, Carrabelle/Dog Island, Chattahoochee,
Eastpoint/St. George Island, Hosford, Keaton Beach, Laurel Hill, Mexico Beach, Paxton, Perry, Port St.
Joe, Tyndall Air Force Base, and Wewahitchka.
