A workshop will be held Thursday, September 7, 2006 to discuss the state’s future electricity needs and the 10-year site plans submitted by Florida’s electric utilities. The Florida Public Service Commission has jurisdiction over the determination of the overall suitability of 10-year site plans pursuant to Section 186.801, Florida Statutes.
At the workshop, the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) will present information relevant to the 10-year site plans: Florida’s electric load forecasts, generation additions that include proposed new coal-fired generating facilities, fuel usage by fuel type, and use of conservation and renewable generation resources. The FRCC will also discuss the transmission planning process and plans for future transmission projects in Central and Northwest Florida.
