Fuel Adjustment Hearings Set for November 6-8 |
|

TALLAHASSEE — The five-member Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold its annual fuel hearing beginning Monday, November 6, to consider evidence regarding fuel and purchased power costs of Florida’s investor-owned electric utilities. At the end of the hearing, the Commission will determine the 2007 fuel rates for customers of Florida Power and Light Company, Progress Energy Florida, Inc., Tampa Electric Company, Gulf Power Company, and Florida Public Utilities Corporation. At the hearing, the utilities will present testimony regarding their projected fuel and purchased power costs for 2007. Previous estimates for costs incurred in 2005 and 2006 will also be trued-up to actual. Other parties representing the interests of consumers, such as the Office of Public Counsel, will present their testimony on these same matters. Immediately following the hearing, the Commission will consider its staff’s recommendations and will determine each utility’s fuel charges for 2007. The fuel charge appears on customers’ bills separate from other charges. Utilities are allowed to recover only the prudent costs of procuring fuel and purchased power necessary to meet customer demand. The utilities are not allowed to make a profit on fuel purchases. The hearing will be held at the following date, time, and location: Monday, Nov. 6 through Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006 |
