TALLAHASSEE —
The Florida Public Service Commission will hold a determination of need hearing on Florida Power and Light’s (FPL) petition to expand the Turkey Point and St. Lucie nuclear power plants. FPL has asked to add a total of approximately 414 MW of nuclear generating capacity.
The Turkey Point plant is located on Biscayne Bay, 24 miles south of Miami and east of Homestead. The St. Lucie plant is located on Hutchinson Island, midway between Stuart and Ft. Pierce.
