TALLAHASSEE —
The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a hearing on Tampa Electric Company’s (TECO) request for a rate increase beginning Tuesday, January 20, 2009. The hearing allows TECO to present evidence and testimony in support of its petition and also allows interveners to present testimony and exhibits.
In August, TECO filed a petition with the PSC for approval of a $228.2 million increase to its electric rates. TECO provides electric service to approximately 667,000 customers in Hillsborough and portions of Polk, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. The utility’s last full rate case was in 1992. The PSC conducted customer service hearings in TECO’s service area last October.
The hearing is scheduled for six days, but could end early. Hearing dates, times, and location are below.
