Customer Meetings Set for Chesapeake

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct two customer meetings on October 14-15, 2009, for customers of the Florida Division of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (Chesapeake).  The utility has applied for a rate increase.  Chesapeake’s last approved rate increase was in 2000.

Chesapeake provides gas distribution and transportation to approximately 14,500 customers in Winter Haven, Plant City, St. Cloud, Inverness, Crystal River, and other nearby communities.  Chesapeake also provides service to industrial customers in DeSoto, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Holmes, Jackson, Liberty, Suwannee, Union and Washington Counties and is ready to provide service, pursuant to an approved territorial agreement, to customers in portions of Pasco County.

The meetings allow customers to comment on the proposed rates and any quality-of-service issues relevant to the utility.  Customers are invited to attend the meetings at the following times and locations:
