TALLAHASSEE —
The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a public hearing on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, on a proposed biomass plant in Gainesville. The 100 megawatt plant is a joint project of Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) and Gainesville Renewable Energy Center, LLC.
The public hearing will give GRU customers and members of the public an opportunity to provide sworn public testimony regarding the need for the proposed renewable power plant. The plant will be located at GRU’s existing Deerhaven plant site in Alachua County. The hearing is at the following time and location: Wednesday, December 9, 2009 6:00 p.m. Gainesville City Hall City Commission Auditorium 200 East University Avenue Gainesville, Florida 32601 The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
