Hurricane Preparedness Workshop Monday |
|

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a workshop on May 17 to review the status of hurricane preparedness for the state’s electric utilities and major telephone companies. The annual workshop reviews actions that have been taken to protect the electric transmission and distribution facilities in the state from the impact of severe weather. Each utility will present its current storm-hardening preparation status. Preparation categories include facility inspections; maintenance and repairs; coordination with other utilities, government, and community groups; and other storm-hardening measures. The presentations will also address unfinished work and identify specific areas of concern. The workshop is set for the following time and location: Monday, May 17, 2010 The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitors safety, reliability, and service.
