Helping unemployed Floridians “Get Connected and Get a Job,” the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is partnering with Suncoast Workforce for this year’s National Lifeline Awareness Week on Tuesday, September 13, in Sarasota.
PSC staff will offer information about the Link-Up Florida and Lifeline Assistance telephone discount programs to help Florida’s unemployed get a phone and connect with job opportunities, as well as businesses and community services. Telephone company representatives will be available to sign up eligible residents. Joining public utility commissions across the nation, the Florida PSC continues to spread the word and increase participation in the discount programs making telephone service affordable for the state’s low-income consumers. The event will be held at the following time and location: Tuesday, September 13, 2011 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Suncoast Workforce 3660 North Washington Boulevard Sarasota, Florida The Federal Communications Commission, the National Association of Regulated Utility Commissioners, and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates are supporting this year’s National Lifeline Awareness Week, September 12-18.
