Helping unemployed Floridians “Get Connected and Get a Job,” the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is partnering with Brevard Workforce-Palm Bay for this year’s National Lifeline Awareness Week on Thursday, September 15, in Palm Bay.
PSC staff will offer information about the Link-Up Florida and Lifeline Assistance telephone discount programs to help Florida’s unemployed get a phone and connect with job opportunities, as well as businesses and community services. Telephone company representatives will be available to sign up eligible residents. Joining public utility commissions across the nation, the Florida PSC continues to spread the word and increase participation in the discount programs making telephone service affordable for the state’s low-income consumers. The event will be held at the following time and location: Thursday, September 15, 2011 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Brevard Workforce-Palm Bay Country Club Plaza 5275 Babcock Street Northeast Suite 8B Palm Bay, Florida The Federal Communications Commission, the National Association of Regulated Utility Commissioners, and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates are supporting this year’s National Lifeline Awareness Week, September 12-18.
