PSC to Help Unemployed "Get Connected and Get a Job" at Lifeline Awareness Week Event in Palm Bay

PSC staff will offer information about the Link-Up Florida and Lifeline Assistance telephone discount programs to help Florida’s unemployed get a phone and connect with job opportunities, as well as businesses and community services.  Telephone company representatives will be available to sign up eligible residents.

Joining public utility commissions across the nation, the Florida PSC continues to spread the word and increase participation in the discount programs making telephone service affordable for the state’s low-income consumers.

The Federal Communications Commission, the National Association of Regulated Utility Commissioners, and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates are supporting this year’s National Lifeline Awareness Week, September 12-18.  Other Florida events are scheduled in Workforce Centers around the state.
