TALLAHASSEE —
Duke Energy Chief Executive Officer Jim Rogers will appear before the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, to address how the Duke Energy (Duke) and Progress Energy Florida (PEF) merger will impact Florida customers. Rogers replaced former PEF Chief Executive Officer Bill Johnson to head the merged companies.
Discussions will include the Settlement Agreement (Agreement) approved by the PSC in February. The Agreement sets rate continuity for PEF’s customers through 2016 and provides a process for ongoing consultation with the Office of Public Counsel (OPC), which represents customers, about the future of the Crystal River Nuclear Unit 3. Parties to the Agreement, now binding on Duke, include PEF, OPC, the Florida Industrial Power Users Group, the Florida Retail Federation, White Springs Agriculture Chemicals, Inc., and the Federal Executive Agencies.
