TALLAHASSEE —
The Study Committee on Investor-Owned Water & Wastewater Utility Systems (Committee) will hold its second meeting from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3 in Tallahassee.
Open to the public, the Committee will address challenges affecting investor-owned water and wastewater utilities. Discussion topics include compliance with federal and state drinking water and environmental standards, need for infrastructure repair and replacement, need for a more integrated approach to achieve sustainability, and customer impacts. Established by the 2012 Florida Legislature, the Committee is chaired by Florida Public Service Commissioner Julie I. Brown and includes 17 representatives from the Florida Legislature, state agencies, state and local governments, investor-owned water utilities, and their customers. The Committee is required to prepare and submit a report on its findings to the Governor, the Senate President, and the Speaker of the House by February 15, 2013.
